Brooklyn Basin/Oak to Ninth
Oakland, CA

Serve as lead counsel for the developer in all phases of the acquisition, entitlement, financing, environmental remediation and ongoing development of this 60-acre San Francisco Bay-front property formerly owned and operated by the Port of Oakland. Our work on this project included resolving numerous challenges, including a CEQA lawsuit challenging the approved Environmental Impact Report; a multi-million dollar environmental cleanup, including the acquisition of multiple environmental insurance policies; permitting through the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC); and a land exchange with the State Lands Commission to resolve Tidelands Trust issues.

 

Alameda Point, Site A
Alameda, CA

Served as lead counsel for the developer of approximately 68 acres of the former Alameda Point Naval Air Station in Alameda, California. Our work included negotiation and documentation of the Exclusive Negotiation and Disposition and Development Agreements between the developer and the City of Alameda, related land use issues, and coordination with the City and the U.S. Navy in connection with the remediation and management of hazardous materials at this former military base. The phased development of Site A will ultimately include 800 residential units; up to 200,000 square feet of shops, restaurants and other retail; use 400,000 square feet of commercial/retail; and 14 acres of public parks, plazas and open space.

 

The Hive
Oakland, CA

Serve as lead counsel for the acquisition, financing, cleanup and development of this transformative mixed-use infill project, including 104 apartments, restaurant, retail and office use, along the former Broadway Auto Row in Oakland’s Uptown District. Our past and ongoing work includes all phases of due diligence, parcel assembly, entitlement, permitting, environmental remediation, construction and leasing.

 

Oakland Army Base
Oakland, CA

Served as lead counsel for the developer of approximately 158 acres of the former Oakland Army Base in Oakland, California. Our work included legal oversight of nearly every aspect of this multifaceted development project, including negotiation of the 66-year lease for the property, demolition of existing structures, remediation of hazardous materials and development of a 34-acre upgraded working waterfront area, one million square feet of logistics facilities and two new rail yards.

 

Kissell Uptown Oakland
Oakland, CA

Serve as lead real estate counsel for the acquisition and development of this multifaceted hotel project in the heart of Oakland’s Uptown District. The project includes a 168-room hotel, 74 apartment residences, meeting and conference space and a new, locally-owned restaurant. Our work included all phases of due diligence, parcel assembly, joint venture, financing, entitlement, permitting, environmental cleanup, construction and leasing.

 

Rowhaus
Oakland, CA

Served as lead counsel for the developer in the acquisition, joint venture, financing, and construction of this boutique 30-unit apartment building along the former Broadway Auto Row in Oakland’s Uptown District.

 

Denizen
Oakland, CA

Served as lead counsel for the developer in the acquisition, joint venture, financing, remediation, and construction of this four-story, infill apartment development at the location of former Hanzel Auto Body Works in Oakland’s Uptown District.

 

Millworks
Novato, CA

Served as lead counsel for the developer in the acquisition, financing, entitlement, construction and sale of this four-story, mixed-use infill development in downtown Novato. The development includes 124 residential units over a 38,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market. Our work included negotiation and documentation of the long-term lease with Whole Foods.

 

Fueling and Drayage Services Center
Oakland, CA

Served as lead real estate and CEQA counsel for the developer in the development and lease of a fuel station and drayage truck services center within the Oakland seaport. Worked closely with the development team to prepare environmental review documents and advised on negotiations with the Port of Oakland regarding the project’s development and long-term lease agreements.

 

The Webster
Oakland, CA

Served as lead real estate and environmental counsel for the redevelopment of a former surface parking lot near Lake Merritt into a mixed-use building composed of 234 residential units and 15,000 square feet of retail space wrapping a three-level parking structure. Our work included all phases of due diligence, acquisition, environmental clearance and construction.

 

Fiddyment Ranch
Roseville, CA

Served as lead counsel for the acquisition, financing, entitlement and sale of this mixed-use master-planned community across 1,562 acres. The development included over 4,000 homes, 30 acres for retail and commercial use and 556 acres of parks and open space.
